Core Aeration and Seeding
The majority of soils in our area are composed of a heavy clay base. This prevents proper air, water, and nutrient penetration into the root zone of your turf grass, thus restricting root growth. Excessive thatch can be another problem for your lawn. Thatch is a layer of living and dead plant tissue that lies between the soil surface and the grass vegetation. Thatch also prevents air, water, and nutrient penetration.hese problems cause shallow root development which reduces the turf grass tolerance to heat, cold, and drought. These restrictions to the root growth decrease the turf density and overall quality of your lawn.Core Aeration can help!
Core aeration mechanically removes hundreds of small plugs of soil and thatch from your lawn. After core aeration is performed, the soil cores will be left on the top of you lawn to act as a top dressing. After a brief period of time they will begin to break down, adding beneficial organic material and improving the structure of your lawn.
The microorganisms in the soil brought to the surface by the core aeration work to breakdown the thatch buildup and reduce its thickness. Aeration helps revitalize turf by allowing roots to grow deeper, creating healthier plants and a thicker lawn. This will make your lawn better able to withstand extreme weather conditions. It’s a Great Time to Seed!
Seeding done at the time of aeration improves soil to seed contact. This results in better germination and provides new life to your already established lawn. Overseeding will help fill in bare or thin areas. We do a double aeration with our overseeding.
